The association was established in the year 1952 & earlier it was known as Indian Chemical Auxilliaries Mfg. Assoc. The Assoc. caters to the whole spectrum of industries - among all the members & issues pertaining to members are taken up on merits irrespective of whether it comes form large or small scale. Most of the members also mfg. chemicals required for ONGC, Oil drilling, refineries, National Textiles Corporation.

The development of Dyestuff industry in india is a post independent phenomena. Presently dyestuffs are being produced both by large & small scale units in india There are over 950 units Mfg. dyes & dye intermediates. Of these medium & small scale sector. Various dyestuffs are produced in the country & their number excee ds 600. The most widely using among them include Acid dyes, Direct dyes,Disperse, Reactive dyes, Basic dyes, sulphur etc. These products in textile, leather, paints, Inks etc. India is one of major exporter of Dyes & Dye i.e Rs 2000 Crores

Pesticides Manufacturers & Formulators Association of India is non-profit making trade organisation of India and has been registered under Charitable Trust and Societies Act. In 1967.PMFAI's mission to include basic technical grade manufacturers of pesticides to foster the interest of the general public and PMFAI's members by promoting innovations and environmentally sound use of crop protection / public health products so as to ensure high quality, abundant food, fiber and maintenance for growing population in Indian sub-continental.

What began, as a vision, emerging from foresight and aspirations, is today the Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association, a recognised representative body of the Rs.500 billion / US $ 16 billion Chemical Industry. Members include both Indian companies with a global presence, and subsidiaries of multinationals.
