Polymer Laboratories was founded in 1976 from the Polymer Research Group at Loughborough University by founder members Dr Terry Croucher, Dr Frank Warner and Prof Ray Wetton. PL remains a privately held Company by Dr Warner (Chairman), Dr Croucher (Deputy Chairman and Operations Director) and 3i (Investors in Industry).

At its inception, the Company's objectives were "to develop techniques and instrumentation for the characterization of polymer systems, and to develop high technology polymer products for application in the fields of chromatography, diagnostics and pharmaceuticals". Over 28 years in business, Polymer Laboratories has continued to pursue these goals, with a consistent desire to develop these technologies.
